What are your next plans after coming to Midori Farm?

Continue working to promote local, organic, ecological farming, food, and living in general, wherever I am.

Have we done anything to help you achieve that goal?

Yes. After my Midori Farm experience I was reminded of the importance of being more conscious about choosing organic coffee from small-scale producers, and of the importance of advocating for small-scale organic growing in general.

What have you experienced and learned from Midori Farm?

Many nuances and new knowledge about coffee growing, harvesting, processing, brewing, but also about agroforestry in general; about the good life based on simplicity, conviviality, and connection to nature and good people; and many new-to-me species of birds seen!

Your feelings about those experiences

At Midori Organic Farm I learned many nuances and gained a lot of new knowledge about coffee growing, harvesting, processing, brewing, but also about agroforestry in general. Perhaps more importantly, I was reminded of timeless lessons about the good life based on simplicity, conviviality, and connection to nature and good people. And, I saw many new-to-me species of birds, who surely find refuge in the biodiverse, chemical-free environment at Midori!

What message do you want to give to the next interns?

Enjoy and make the most of your precious time there! Find out what needs doing around the farm and how to do it from Huy, and then go for it even if he is busy with other work. Take time to observe and marvel at the amazing plant and animal life on the farm. Learn about the situation and challenges facing small-scale organic farmers in Vietnam. Spread the word about the importance of organic coffee and organic farming generally after you leave!
